BLOGILKAR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: THE PARODY GUYS AND THE MARRY ME VIDEO!

Every Eurovision fan knows by now Dekel and Bastien, the Parody Guys! This couple has provided as fun and joy already three years and this year they are back. And the chosen one is the Finnish entry Marry me (again) and the videos has been shot all around the world, from Helsinki to New York, from London to Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, Stockholm and all the other places! Are you ready to get married?! Here!

Can you tell us a bit about yourselves. Dekel from Tel Aviv, Bastien French living in Zurich. How do you do it? How do you manage with your international live style?
We both travel a lot, either for business or pleasure, so we are often in each other's city, or meeting somewhere around the world!
Where and how did you meet?
We met in a bar in New York back in 2006. We were both airline crew members on a layover there. Dekel still is one, Bastien has changed his career since.
Aha, we can blame it on Lordi then! How many Eurovisions have you done already? I suppose you will be in Malmö 2013 as well?
Malmo will be our 5th. Looking forward to it!
Why Eurovision?
Dekel has been following the contest since childhood. In 2008 we went together to watch it live in Belgrade and Bastien has fallen in love with the contest too, right away. It has been a mutual hobby of ours since.
Back in 2009 you did a parody, or should I call it a funny holiday video of Les Jardins de Monaco. How did you started with that? Did you think it might be a first step to something bigger and lasting?
That was really just a silly holiday video meant for our friends to watch. We have done it mainly as Les Jardins de Monaco was playing in my head before we went there on vacation. There were no intentions back then to turn this into an annual production.
And then came the video for Kuunkuiskaajat's Työlki ellää in 2010 that went viral and the girls themselves were among your biggest fans. You also met them in Oslo. How that came about? Why that particular song and the idea to make a video?
That song is pure fun and funniness. We never thought this video would go as far as it did either, as it was just us being silly eurovision fans, but the experiences to follow after were amazing. The girls are absolutely adorable and we had a lot of fun together with them in Oslo. We still keep in touch from time to time. After that video went viral and was featured in so many places, we knew we had to turn this into a tradition.
In 2011 you chose the Swedish entry, Popular by Eric Saade. That was pure funniness! Did you ever meet him and do you know if he approved?
We haven't got to meet Eric in Dusseldorf, though we've been told he asked about us before we arrived in the city. He has been interviewed about our video though, and seemed to be very amused by the tribute.
In 2012 you went for more serious stuff doing Russia's Party of everybody celebrating tolerance and acceptance in every sense immaginable. The grannies also approved. When did you realize you could also prmote something more serious with these parodies?
After our videos have reached more than half a million views, we thought why not use them to promote love and tolerance, which apart from being our beliefs, are also the ideas behing Eurovision. We were featured in several gay magazines in Russia, which means a lot, knowing the troublesome situation of homosexuals there.
And now 2013 it's time for Finland again, Marry me by Krista Siegfrids! Turned into a equal marriage support video, something very close to Krista's heart already (Tahdon2013 campaign in Finland) The video includes bits filmed all over the wolrd by fans. Tell us more about the initial idea....
Following last year's concept of promoting love and tolerance, together with the ongoing marriage equality campaign around the world, we have decided to go back to our Finnish parody roots and make a gay version of Finland's awesomely fun entry. The song's title is perfect for the cause, and the main idea consists of taking Krista's love story and turning it gay. Along with that, we have gathered friends in different cities doing the ding dong dance all over the world – just like love and marriage should be equal to all, worldwide.
Will you marry? :-)
Wait and see... :)
Thanks Dekel for the interview!
Ladies and Gentlemen... 250 video shots, 160 participants, 11 cities around the world, and 2 crazy crazy us.  We give you the biggest and wildest Eurovision parody yet, dedicated this year to marriage equality. Here it is!

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local.  The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist,  as a journalist, as a delegation member. I met some great people, made memories of lifetime. In stressful, sad periods of my life this blog has been my safe place, a place to escape and forget everything else for an hour o

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

NO AMOR IN ICELAND FOR ÁSDIS MARIA

In Iceland Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2014 started as well. Five songs in the running and two were voted to the final: Gréta Mjöll - Eftir eitt lag and Gissur Páll Gissurarson - Von . To be honest I'm not very suprised about the choices even if I was hoping for Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir - Amor to make it. The people of Björk didn't warm up to that enough, sadly. Also Sverrir Bergmann - Dönsum burtu blús and Vignir Snær Vigfússon - Elsku þú are out but that's ok. Or maybe I would have sent Ásdis Maria with Vignir to the final....Oh well. Next week another five songs and two qualifiers.

ESC 2016 ARMENIA: IT'S IVETA MUKUCHYAN!

Armenian tv has revealed tonight the name of their artist for the 2016 Eurovision song contest in Stockholm. It's 29-year-old Iveta Mukuchyan. Born in Yerevan she moved with her family to Germany when she was 6. At 23 she moved back to Armenia and continued her music studies. She has taken part in the Armenian Pop Idol finishing 5th in 2010 and she also did The Voice of Germany . In 2012 she was voted the Sexiest Armenian.  Armenian tv has made a call for songwriters all over the world to submit a song for her by November 13, 2015.  Let's see which direction the final choice will go, Freak or her latest release that you can hear below.... Whatever it is it will be an improvement from last year's fiasco.....

EUROVISION 2024: DAY 3 REHEARSALS FROM MALTA TO ARMENIA

As there isn't much to blog when rehearsals are done with closed doors (and yes, I'm all for it!)  I will just do a feature with a couple of  photos from the rehearsals as published by Ebu. Today we moved on to semi-final two and were treated with more coned shoulders and masked faces - a real trend this year. I was most curious about Albania and Switzerland as their staging team is the same as UMK's and therefor also Windows95man's (and Käärijä's) last year.  Sadly the white and black outfit trend also continues with very few exceptions and after first semi-finals "nudity" we get Czechia's "nipple" dress. And if in the first semi-final I wished Luxemburg wore something else here it is Albania.... And it looks like the producers decided to open both semi-finals with a young girl with long dark hair in a pantsuit with dancers doing acrobatics ...  Should they both qualify (which I doubt) I hope they are put back to back. MALTA ALBANIA GREECE S

GREECE: HELENA PAPARIZOU HITS AGAIN WITH HAIDE

Eurovision song contest 2005 winner Helena Paparizou has been enjoying Top-5 hits every year since 2003 with the exception of 2010 and 2014, this latest one being already her 27th! And Haide is charting also in Bulgaria and Finland, of all places. The catchiness of her hits has changed less over the years than her face....  Here's the English version , below the Greek version.

EUROVISION 2024 FRANCE: SLIMANE - MON AMOUR

Slimane was the fourth artist announced for the Eurovision song contest 2024 in Malmö, but the very first with the song Mon amour released at the same time and thus the first song of the season, when the whole package was revealed on November 8, 2023. This year France Télévisions dropped the national final and picked internally the biggest name instead. A bit like Italy last year with Marco Mengoni. Slimane Nebchi (34) is a French of Algerian descent through his grandparents. In 2016 he won the season 5 of The Voice but before that he had already gone through many talent shows: Popstars 2007, Nouvelle star 2009, X Factor 2011, Encore un chance 2012, Je veux signer chez AZ and also did Didier Barbelivien's musical Marie-Antoinette et le Chevalier de Maison-Rouge in 2015. His recording career started started after The Voice (except for an EP in 2011 that went nowhere) with his debut album hitting #1 and selling triple platinum. Since then he has released three more albums (last one

EUROVISION 2024: DAY 5 - SEMI-FINAL ONE SECOND REHEARSALS

Today all entries in the semi-final one had their second rehearsals of 20 minutes. Not much to add but Luxemburg had changed the outfit. Or rather added some scarfs on top of it.... Still not good I must admit.  CYPRUS SERBIA LITHUANIA IRELAND UKRAINE  POLAND CROATIA ICELAND SLOVENIA FINLAND MOLDOVA AZERBAIJAN AUSTRALIA PORTUGAL LUXEMBURG Photos as always from eurovision.tv
